Many jurisdictions require fire suppression systems to be connected to a UL-listed central monitoring station. When a flow switch, tamper switch, or trouble signal activates, the monitoring station immediately notifies the fire department and building owner. Monitoring contracts are typically annual and must be with a station listed by a recognized testing laboratory such as UL or FM. Some contractors bundle monitoring with their inspection and service contracts, providing a single point of accountability for system compliance.
