About This Service

Fire suppression systems can be impaired by freeze damage, corrosion, accidental activation, construction activity, or component failure. All repairs must be performed by a licensed contractor and documented in writing. When a system is taken out of service for repair, NFPA 25 requires the building owner to implement an impairment program — including a fire watch or equivalent protection measures — until the system is restored. After any significant repair, affected components must be retested and a new inspection report issued.
