About This System

Standpipe systems provide water supply outlets — hose connections — at each floor of a building for use by fire departments or trained building staff. They are required in high-rise buildings, large warehouses, and structures with floor areas exceeding NFPA 14 thresholds. NFPA 25 requires annual flow testing, inspection of hose connections and valves, and verification that pressure-reducing valves deliver the correct residual pressure to each outlet.
